Background District Administration

Lakshmipur district is in the southeastern part of Bangladesh. Chandpur on the north, Noakhali on the east, Meghna river on the south and west and Noakhali, Bhola and Barisal districts on the other bank. Meghnabidhauta region with many small and big rivers and canals of this district. The Lakshmipur we see is a small town established on both banks of the Rahmatkhali river in the southern part of Banchanagar mouza, adjoining Samserabad and some parts of Majupur mouza. On 1 September 1986, the then Banchanagar Union No. 5 was transformed into Laxmipur Municipality. Later the municipality expanded with more new mouzas. A police station named Lakshmipur was established in 180 AD. Raipur (17 AD), Ramganj (1891 AD) Ramgati (183 AD) and Laxmipur Sadar Upazila were formed in 1969 as Laxmipur subdivision and Laxmipur district was formed on 26 February 1964 in the same size. The district has 4 municipalities, 56 unions, 514 mouzas and 474 villages. The total area of ​​the district is 1,534.6 sq km.
